The Big Help Out Festival

Come along and join us on Monday 8 May for the Big Help Out Festival, a celebration with live entertainment for all ages. Part of our Coronation Weekend, the festival is being organised to bring our community together and mark the historic occasion as well as say ‘Thank You’ from the Mayor and Council to those who volunteer across our borough.

On the day, there will be music, great food and chance to meet organisations to find out about volunteering opportunities across the borough. There will be stalls from the Newham Volunteers team as well as other voluntary, community and faith organisations (VCFS), and charities.

The event will have live music and performances from various local groups including Dhol Academy, Drum Works and Newham Jazz Orchestra, with Folk Dance Remixed and international Afrobeat star Dele sosimi, as well as workshops and activities for children and families.

Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE will hold a tree planting ceremony on the day, where she will plant an oak tree in Central Park to commemorate the Coronation. Residents are invited to join in the ceremony.
