Care Home parking permits

If a care home requires additional on-street parking for visitors, you can apply for a Care Home parking permit.
 

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Care Home parking permit, a care home must:

  • be a Registered Care Home
  • be located in a Residential Parking Zone (RPZ) in Newham
  • evidence that additional on-street parking for visitors is required.
     

Costs:

The Care Home permit is free.
 

How to apply

You will need:

ONE of the following documents:

  • business rate bill
  • utility bill
  • a letter from the care home on headed paper, confirming the need for a Care Home permit.

You can apply online using MiPermit.

  1. Register for an account on MiPermit Newham, or log in.
  2. Go to 'Buy digital permits' and select 'Care Home Permits'
  3. Complete the application form.
  4. Upload required documents.

What happens next

Once your application is approved, you will receive an email confirmation. The paper permit will be posted by recorded delivery within 2 working days.

After your application has been approved, if you have not received your Care Home permit within 5 working days, contact the council by phoning 020 8430 2000.

You may be required to submit a new application.
 

How to use a Care Home parking permit

  • Vehicles must not be over 2.3m in height or 5.3m in length
  • Care home parking permits can be swapped between different vehicles, but only within the Residential Parking Zone shown on the permit.
  • The permit must be handed back to the care home after each visit.

Any vehicle breaching a parking or driving rule or parked without a valid permit, may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and possibly be towed.

Permits must be renewed annually. 

You can renew a permit up to four weeks in advance.
