Check the vehicle V5C (log book) for information on the CO2 emissions of the vehicle.

For vehicles registered:

Diesel vehicles:
If the vehicle is registered as diesel with the DVLA, there will be a surcharge to the permit amount.

  • £100 per year (for 12 month permits)
  • £8.40 per month (for monthly permits)

Hybrid vehicles:
If you have a hybrid vehicle (both electric and fuel-driven), the emissions charge will be based on the CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) emissions data in the V5C (log book). If this data is missing, charges will be based on the fuel engine size.

Zero Emissions vehicles:
Vehicles with zero emissions will be indicated by the DVLA with a number (e.g. 0) on the log book. If CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) information is blank, charges will be based on engine size. Check your vehicle V5C (log book) to find out which tier your vehicle falls into.

The council reserves the right to check applications for vehicles with zero CO2 emissions.
