Apply for a dropped kerb

A dropped kerb, also known as a 'vehicle crossover', is a lowered section of pavement that allows a vehicle to cross the pavement to access parking on a driveway.

New dropped kerbs across pavements are unlikely to be accepted, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Find information dropped kerb application criteria.

Dropped kerb applications will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Note: Planning permission to create a driveway on your front garden does not give you automatic permission to build a dropped kerb.

You must NOT drive on or over a pavement to access a property (except in the case of an emergency). Driving across the pavement without a council approved dropped kerb, is illegal and you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

The fee is not refunded if the application is rejected.
