Pay for parking (PayByPhone)

If you need to pay to park, you can:

use an online and phone system called PayByPhone

if you do not have a mobile phone, you can pay at a PayPoint store, find a store on the PayPoint website.

PayByPhone is the service provider the council use for purchasing and validating on street pay to park sessions in the borough.

How to pay for parking using your phone

You will need:

location number (displayed on sign/s)
vehicle registration (number plate)
credit or debit card (Find information on PayByPhone accepted payment methods)

You can either:

go online: PayByPhone website
use the PayByPhone app (download on Google Play Store or App Store)
phone 020 7005 0055 (PayByPhone)

Ensure you enter your registration number correctly.

The charge will automatically be calculated when you add your vehicle registration into the payment system (PayByPhone)

You can choose to receive reminders, so that you know when your parking session is about to end (texts may be charged).

Check you have confirmation that the parking session has started before leaving your vehicle.

Once paid, you do not need a ticket to display in your windscreen.

Return to your vehicle before your parking session ends to move your vehicle.

Maximum vehicle size
Vehicles exceeding 2.3m in height and/or 5.3m in length can not use PayByPhone in Newham.

It is the PayByPhone customer’s responsibility that the vehicle does not exceed the maximum dimensions when they buy a parking session in Newham.

If a parking session has been paid for, but the vehicle is found to be larger than these dimensions, the vehicle may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) or be towed.

Extending your parking session
You can extend your parking session on your phone, without having to go back to your vehicle.

Some locations have a maximum time you can stay parked for, check signs at the location before leaving your vehicle.

If your vehicle breaches any of these restrictions, you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and your vehicle may also be towed.
