Re-usable items

Find out where to take re-usable furniture and what to do if you have broken electric items you want to fix.

Re-usable furniture items

If you have furniture items you no longer need that you think could be used by someone else, you can bring them along to Jenkins Lane Re-use and Recycling Centre.
Staff at the centre will take a quick look at your items. If they are in a good enough condition they will direct you to a special container for re-usable items of furniture.

Other furniture re-use services

Note that these re-use services are not provided by us.
  • Homestore is a furniture re-use charity based in Stratford. It sells donated items at low cost to families in Newham who may not otherwise be able to afford the furniture they need.
  • Reclaim is a furniture reuse social enterprise based in Canning Town. It provides the local community with low cost goods which are donated by local residents and businesses, and offers free collections of re-usable furniture for Newham residents.
  • You can list re-usable furniture items on websites like Freegle and the Newham Freecycle group, which can be found through an internet search.
If your furniture items no longer have the fire safety labels attached, then you may not be able to donate them for re-use.

Fixing electronic items
