Make a claim for Council Tax Reduction

Do not make a claim if:

  • You are a full-time student
  • You are not liable to pay Council Tax
  • You and your partner are both of pension age and have more than £16,000 in savings, investments, or other capital (unless you receive Guaranteed Pension Credit)
  • You or your partner are under pension age and have more than £6,000 in savings, investments, or other capital
  • You do not live in the borough
  • You are a care leaver under the age of 25
  • You already receive Council Tax Reduction

Do make a claim if:

  • You live in the borough
  • You are liable to pay Council Tax
  • You are aged 18 or over
  • You are working or unemployed
  • You are receiving Universal Credit

Please be aware not everyone who makes a claim is entitled to a council tax reduction.

To make a claim for Council Tax Reduction you will need to know:
  • Your Council Tax account number
  • Your National Insurance number
  • Your income
  • What is in your bank accounts
  • The details of anyone living in your home
