Resident parking permit costs
Resident parking permits can be purchased in periods of:
- 12 months, or
- 1 month (with the option for automatic renewal renew up to one year)

Costs based on the vehicle's emissions
Resident parking permits are charged based on a vehicle's emissions.
Check the vehicle V5C (log book) for information on the CO2 emissions of the vehicle.
For vehicles registered:
- before 2001, refer to the engine size
- in 2001 and after, refer to the CO2 emissions
If CO2 information is not stated on the V5C (log book), permit charging will be based on the vehicles fuel engine size.

Diesel vehicles
If the vehicle is registered as diesel with the DVLA, there will be a surcharge to the permit amount.
- £50 per year (for 12 month permits)
- £4.20 per month (for monthly permits)
Hybrid vehicles
Hybrid vehicles (both electric and fuel-driven) emissions charges are based on the CO2 emissions data in the V5C (log book). If this data is missing, charges will be based on the fuel engine size.
Zero Emissions vehicles
Vehicles with zero emissions will be indicated by the DVLA with a number (e.g., 0) on the log book. If CO2 information is blank, charges will be based on engine size. Check the vehicle V5C (log book) to find out which tier the vehicle is.
The council reserves the right to check applications for vehicles with zero CO2 emissions.
Multiple permits per household
If your household has more than one vehicle that requires a Resident parking permit, additional charges apply for subsequent permits.
Second Permit:
- 1 month: £11 (plus full emissions costs)
- 12 months: £110 (plus full emissions costs)
Third and Subsequent Permits:
- 1 month: £22 (plus full emissions costs)
- 12 months: £220 (plus full emissions costs)
Emission charges and/or additional permit costs will be calculated automatically when applying.
