Warm Homes Programme

What to expect?

1. Energy survey
We will contact you to arrange an energy survey (also called a retrofit assessment). This helps us understand what improvements your home may need and whether it is suitable for the programme. Some homes may also need a cavity wall check at this stage.

2. Asbestos survey
If your home is included, we will carry out an asbestos survey. This is a routine safety check before any building work starts.

3. Design and discussion
Once plans are prepared for your home, we will contact you to explain them and hear your feedback. We will also talk through the expected timescales and any specific needs you may have during the works. Across many of these homes, we plan to install small sensors to help monitor temperature, air quality and damp or mould risks before and after improvements.

4. Building works
When designs are confirmed,  a contractor will be chosen, and building work will begin. We will keep you updated and make sure you know what to expect while work is taking place.

5. Completion and handover
When the work is finished, we will meet with you to check everything has been completed properly and explain how to use and look after the new improvements in your home.
