What improvements are being made?
Every home will need different measures to improve energy efficiency depending on its needs, but our plans include delivering a combination of works to target energy saving and improved comfort.
We start by improving the building itself before adding any new equipment. This is known as a “fabric first” approach, which helps homes keep heat in and reduces problems like cold, damp and mould.
Improvements may include :
- Cavity wall insulation – this insulation helps keep heat inside the home, making rooms warmer and reducing heating costs.
- Roof or loft insulation – helps top-floor homes stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Up to 25% of heat is lost through roofs.
- Improved windows (double glazing) – reduces drafts and condensation and can reduce noise from outside.
- Better ventilation - improves air quality and helps reduce damp and mould.
- New front doors (where needed) - improves warmth, security and reduces draughts.
- Solar panels - helps lower electricity costs by generating power from sunlight.
- Environmental sensors - small devices that help spot problems early, such as low temperatures, damp or mould, or poor air quality so we can act sooner.
All works will meet the PAS 2030/2035 national quality standards for retrofit, ensuring safe, high-quality installation.
