Parking in a RPZ

A residential parking zone (RPZ) is an area where parking is controlled to benefit residents, businesses and visitors.

During controlled hours you need a parking permit to park in a RPZ. Different RPZs have different operational hours and days.

Your resident parking permit is only valid for use in your RPZ and enables you to park in a bay that’s designated for permit holders only or for shared use. This is a bay that be used by both permit holders and motorists purchasing a pay and display ticket or paying for parking by phone.

A valid permit does not enable you to park any where within an RPZ; you should check the permits web pages and the terms and conditions for your permit.

If your permit has a one or two letter RPZ zone code then check that the nearby signs have the same RPZ  zone code. Also check the signs nearby to ensure you can park in a specific bay and that no restrictions apply.

If you do not have a permit, parking is available throughout the borough in our car parks and on-street pay and display bays.

New and extended RPZs

We publish details of new RPZs and proposed changes to existing RPZs on our Consultations and changes to RPZs page.

When events are held at the Olympic Stadium we operate an event parking zone to restrict parking for visitors. This is to help local residents and businesses park in Stratford and West Ham.
