Support for asylum seekers and refugees in Newham

Welcome Newham Small Grants

A number of organisations across Newham have been awarded funding to deliver projects for asylum seekers and refugees who have newly arrived in the borough. The projects are diverse and cover all age groups and genders. The grant is not open to new applications.

Alternatives Trust East London	Practical and skill based courses in the Centre’s ‘Learning Hub’ to help women be ready to find work	Women
Bonny Downs Community Association	Weekly drop-in Family Hubs that offer: peer support donated second hand clothing free food parent-led cooking workshops toys for children to play with trained advocates who can help with immigration, housing, domestic abuse and school registrations	Families
Eastside Community Heritage	Free workshops and day trips in Newham to learn about the borough and socialise with others	Everyone
inspire Women, Men and Children	Free social activities, training and volunteering opportunities	Everyone
Newham Community Project	Workshops on health, employability, healthy eating clubs, resettlement support and outreach	Everyone
RDLAC	Projects include: walking groups art groups mental health support groups youth groups gardening groups friendship groups volunteer opportunities cooking tutorials and free hot meals free trips to other cities and seaside towns	Everyone
Rosetta Arts	Work jointly on creative activities aimed at developing skills in textile-making and social entrepreneurship	Everyone
Skills Enterprise	Weekly & monthly activities that support building social connections, raising awareness and knowledge about UK systems and accessing appropriate support	Everyone
The New Black Film Collective	Free events with movies, talks from members of the community and a series of stalls for businesses and services. Held at Stratford East Picturehouse, there will be three events for people of African heritage, three for people of Asian heritage and three for people of Eastern European heritage.	Everyone
