Why EPCs matter
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) tells us:
- How much energy your home uses
- How effectively it retains heat
- The likely cost of heating and powering your home
- What improvements could make your home more energy efficient
Homes are rated on a scale from A (most energy efficient) to G (least energy efficient).
Having an up-to-date EPC helps us to:
- Identify homes that would benefit from energy efficiency upgrades
- Plan and prioritise future improvement works
- Help reduce residents' energy bills
- Lower carbon emissions
- Apply for government funding to support home energy improvements
Keeping EPCs up to date helps us meet national requirements for social housing and supports Newham's wider commitments to improving health and wellbeing, tackling fuel poverty, and addressing climate change.
