Who will carry out the survey and what to expect
The surveys will be carried out by our approved EPC assessor. Their details will be included in your letter. All surveyors will be fully qualified and accredited EPC assessors, and carry official ID. They will explain what they are doing and be trained to work in homes. They will treat your home with respect and keep disruption to a minimum.
The survey is a simple visit from a trained energy assessor. It usually takes 30–60 minutes depending on the size of your house. You do not need to prepare anything.
During the visit, the assessor may check the walls, windows and insulation (including the loft, if you have one). They will also check the heating system and controls, ventilation, and lighting. They may take some photos of building features, but will try not to include your personal belongings.
