Apply for a Disabled Resident parking permit
Vehicles must hold a valid Disabled Resident parking permit to be able to park in a Disabled Resident parking bay.
A Disabled Resident parking permit is NOT the same as a Blue Badge.
You must have a Disabled Resident parking bay and hold a Blue Badge, to apply for a Disabled Resident parking permit.

There is no charge for a Disabled Resident parking permit
Eligibility
To be eligible for a Disabled Resident parking permit, you must:
- hold a valid Blue Badge
- live in Newham
- ensure the vehicle you are applying for is registered/ leased in your name and at the address where you will be using the permit
- already have successfully qualified for a Disabled Resident bay and it has been installed
- ensure your vehicle does not exceed 2.3m in height and/or 5.3m in length
- have a car registered with the DVLA to your address (foreign vehicles are not accepted)
If the vehicle is found to be larger than these dimensions, the permit will not be valid and will be subject to cancellation. The vehicle may also receive Penalty Charge Notices or be towed.
How to apply
You will need:
Proof of Address:
Documents should be in the name of the registered keeper/ leaseholder of the vehicle.
- council Tax bill valid for the current financial year
or
- a tenancy agreement covering the current financial year
AND
- utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months

the property has been recently purchased
you are not the official tenant or council tax payer
Vehicle documents
- V5C document (log book) clearly stating your name and address in Newham
or
- Motability Certificate/Motability Hire agreement (not the Motability insurance). Uploaded files must clearly show that you are the Motability customer/hirer and state your name and address in Newham

You can apply online using MiPermit
- Register for an account on MiPermit Newham, or log in.
- Go to 'Buy Digital Permits'
- Select 'Disabled Persons Resident Permit' and complete the application form.
- Upload required documentation

What happens next
Once the application has been submitted, you will receive an email confirming if the permit has been approved.
The Disabled Resident parking permit is then automatically activated.
Disabled Resident parking permits are virtual, you do not need to display a permit on your vehicle.
Any vehicle breaching a parking or driving rule or parked without a valid permit, may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and possibly be towed.
Disabled Resident permits must be renewed annually.
