Healthy School Streets

Schools included in the Healthy Schools Streets Programme Pilot

Four schools were identified through the London Mayor’s Air Quality Audits as exceeding EU guide pollution limits:

  • Salisbury Primary School
  • Carpenters Primary School
  • Keir Hardie Primary School
  • Lathom Junior School

Five schools were identified from feedback and complaints about having significantly high-traffic related issues:

  • Chobham Academy
  • Woodgrange Infants School
  • Godwin Junior School
  • West Ham CoE Primary School
  • Roman Road Primary School

Timed road access restrictions

Five schools were eligible for timed road access restrictions due to their locations and road layouts and were supported by key stakeholders:

  • Chobham Academy
  • Woodgrange Infants School
  • Godwin Junior School
  • West Ham CoE Primary School
  • Lathom Junior School.

Other measures

Due to their proximity to major roads, timed road access restrictions could not be introduced to the three schools below. However, other measures such as green planted screens have been implemented to reduce the effects of pollution.

  • Salisbury Primary School
  • Carpenters Primary School
  • Keir Hardie Primary School

Which schools will be in the next phase?

More Healthy School Streets will be introduced in the coming months.

We will prioritise schools with the highest pollution levels, significant traffic flows and contraventions.
