NHS COVID-19 app
Protect your loved ones. Download the app.
The NHS COVID-19 app is the fastest way to see if you’re at risk from coronavirus. The faster you know, the quicker you can alert and protect your loved ones and community.
The app has several tools to protect you, including contact tracing, local area alerts and venue check-in. It uses proven technology from Apple and Google, designed to safeguard every user’s privacy. Read more about how we protect your data and privacy.
One of the features of the COVID-19 app is called Venue Check-In. This allows users to check in to participating venues using a QR code displayed at the premises. We’re encouraging businesses and organisations to display official NHS QR code posters at their venue entrance to help support contact tracing.
It is a legal requirement for hospitality, tourism, and leisure industry venues to display a QR code. If you haven’t done so yet, create one on the gov.uk website QR poster for your business. This will allow people to check-in before entering your premises as an alternative to providing their contact details directly and is a straightforward process that takes less than a minute. If you cannot print your own QR poster, your local library will be happy to do this for you.
NHS Test and Trace has produced a video about privacy and data protection. Privacy was one of the most significant barriers to residents choosing to not download the app. The video contents are derived from questions and concerns raised by residents during our webinar feedback sessions.
