NHS COVID-19 app
Protect your loved ones. Download the app.
The NHS COVID-19 app is the fastest way to see if you're at risk from coronavirus. The faster you know, the quicker you can alert and protect your loved ones and community.
The app has a number of tools to protect you, including contact tracing, local area alerts and venue check-in. It uses proven technology from Apple and Google, designed to protect every user’s privacy. Read more about how we protect your data and privacy.
Information for businesses
One of the features of the COVID-19 app is called Check In. This allows users to check in to participating venues using a QR code displayed at the store or venue. We’re encouraging businesses and organisations to display official NHS QR code posters at their venue entrances to help support contact tracing.
It is now a legal requirement for venues in the hospitality, the tourism and leisure industry to display a QR code (when regulations permit their opening): if you haven’t been able to yet, create a on the Gov.uk website QR poster for your business. This will allow people to check in when they visit your premises (when permitted) as an alternative to providing their contact details directly and is a very simple process that takes less than a minute. If you are unable to print your own QR poster, your local library will be happy to do this for you.
NHS Test and Trace has produced a video about privacy and data protection. Privacy was one of the biggest barriers to residents choosing to not download the app. The contents of the video are derived from questions and concerns raised by residents during our webinar feedback sessions.
