Browning Road Bridge Access permit

Vehicles with a valid Access permit can drive through the bridge restriction in the southbound direction only.

If you have a valid Resident, Disabled Resident, Business or Charity Business parking permit, registered to an address on the approved list, your vehicle will already be permitted to drive over the bridge in the southbound direction.

It is important to note that an Access permit does NOT allow you to park in restricted zones.

Costs:

There is no charge for an Access permit.
 

Eligibility

To be eligible for an Access permit for Browning Road Bridge you must:

  • live at, or be employed at a business/registered charity at an address included on the approved list
  • not have a Resident, Disabled Resident, Business or Charity parking permit
  • ensure the vehicle is registered in the UK with the DVLA
     

How to apply

You will need:

Proof of Address:
Documents should be in the name of the registered keeper/ leaseholder of the vehicle. 
Upload ONE of the following:

  • council tax bill or business rates bill, valid for the current financial year
  • a tenancy agreement covering the current financial year
  • utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months
  • Mortgage offer letter
  • Completion of sale letter from solicitor

Vehicle documents
Upload ONE of the following:

  • V5C document (log book) clearly stating your name and address in Newham
  • Motability Certificate/Motability Hire agreement (not the Motability insurance) Uploaded files must clearly show that you are the Motability customer/hirer and state your name and address in Newham
  • Valid and current hire or lease agreement in your name and address in Newham. 

Handwritten documents will not be accepted

you are not the registered keeper
the vehicle is a company vehicle
the vehicle is a foreign vehicle

You can apply online using MiPermit

  1. Register for an account on MiPermit Newham or log in.
  2. Go to 'Buy digital permits' in your MiPermit account.
  3. Select the relevant Access permit.
  4. Complete the application form.

What happens next

Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email confirming the permit has been approved.

Your Access permit is then automatically activated.

Access permits are virtual, you do not need to display a permit on your vehicle.

Access permits must be renewed annually.

If you do not hold a valid permit, you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for driving over the bridge.
