Traffic signs and rules
When driving, you need to follow all national and local traffic signs, road markings and rules. GPS navigation systems may not report local restrictions.

Bus Lanes
Bus lanes are marked on the road by a thick white line. Bus lanes can only be used by the vehicles pictured on the blue signs at certain times of day.
This sign means:
- Only buses and bicycles can use the bus lane on Mondays to Fridays between 7am and 10am, and between 4pm and 6:30pm.
- Outside of these hours, any vehicle can drive in the bus lane.
- If there are no times stated on the sign, the bus lane is enforced at any time.
Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTN)
Motor vehicles can not drive through restricted streets or junctions within Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTN).
If you are a Blue Badge holder and live in West Ham Park LTN you may be eligible for an Access permit.
The entrance to restricted streets are marked by road signs or bollards.
Healthy School Streets (HSS)
Motor vehicles can not drive through Healthy School Streets (HSS) zones during certain hours of the day (around school start and finish times).
Signs at the entrances to the HSS zones display the times of day when motorists are not allowed to drive down the street/s.
If you have a Resident, Disabled Resident, Business, Charity or Access parking permit registered to an address within the Healthy School Street zone, you are allowed to drive through the zone during restricted hours. This only applies to the zone your permit is registered to.
These signs mean:
- Motor vehicles including motorbikes are not allowed to drive down the street on Mondays to Fridays between 8:30 am and 9:30 am, and between 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm.
- Outside of these hours, any vehicle can drive down the street.
- If you have a Resident, Disabled Resident, Business, Charity or Access valid permit, you can drive down this street at all times.
Other traffic signs
There are specific traffic signs and rules that you must follow while driving.
These include: one way streets, yellow box junction and turns that are not allowed.

Any vehicle breaching a parking or driving rule or parked without a valid permit, may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and possibly be towed.
