Moving traffic Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) contravention codes
Moving Traffic Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) are issued for one of the following contraventions. A contravention is when a parking or driving rule has been breached.

31 - Entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited.
Where stationary traffic would be likely to block a junction, a yellow box may be marked on the road, covering all or part of the junction. You must not enter the box area if your exit is not clear. If turning right at the junction, you may enter the box (behind other right-turning vehicles, if any) to wait for a gap in the oncoming traffic, but only if the right-turn exit is clear. Suffix J stands for enforced by CCTV.

32 - Failing to drive in the direction shown by the arrow on a blue sign.
A sign with a white arrow on a blue background shows the direction traffic must turn. Refer to road signs and markings at the location. Suffix T means turning against the direction shown in the arrow.

37 - Failing to give way to oncoming vehicles.
Not allowing other vehicles to go past before you move, at locations where presented with a sign with a large black arrow pointing down and a small red arrow pointing up, inside a red circle, with 'Give way to oncoming vehicles' or 'Priority to vehicles in opposite direction'. 38 - Failing to comply with a sign indicating that vehicular traffic must pass to the specified side of the sign.
This refers to signs on bollards in the middle of the road, with arrows pointing to the left (suffix L) or the right (suffix R).
50 - Performing a prohibited turn.
Turned where vehicles are not allowed to do so. Refer to the road signs and markings at the location. Suffix R means prohibited right turn. Find rules on banned turns on the Transport for London (TFL) website.
51 - Failing to comply with a no entry restriction.
Driving down a road that vehicles are not allowed to enter. Suffix J stands for enforced by CCTV.
52 - Failing to comply with a prohibition on certain types of vehicle.
Some vehicles are not allowed to enter certain roads. Refer to signs at the location. This could apply to motor vehicles (suffix M) or vehicles over the weight indicated on the sign (suffix G).
53 - Failing to comply with a restriction on vehicles entering a pedestrian zone.
If a vehicle drives into a street that is for pedestrians only. This applies to 'Healthy School Streets' which are restricted to vehicles between certain times of a day, as well as other pedestrian zones. Suffix C is for Pedestrian and Cycle Zones.
