World Car Free Day

World car free day is on Sunday 22 September.

Leave your car at home and join your family, friends, and residents across London and enjoy walking, cycling, playing and just being outside.

World Car Free Day

Every time you leave your car at home you are helping to tackle the capital’s air pollution crisis, which kills thousands of people each year and leaves two million - including 400,000 children - living in areas with illegally dirty air.

What are we doing to tackle it

Newham Council has declared a Climate Emergency, and as part of this is committed to tackling pollution and improving air quality.

As part of World Car Free Day, in Newham there will nine road closures in place. Each road that is closed will have tailored activities including traditional street games, air pollution awareness activities, arts and crafts, cycling repairs and much more. It will be an opportunity for you to learn more about air quality and get involved with your local community.
