Council
Newham Council is the local authority
responsible for providing public services and political leadership
within the London Borough Of Newham.

The political make-up of the Council is made up of the Mayor
(Sir Robin Wales - Labour) and 60 Councillors (currently 54 are
Labour, 3 are Christian Peoples Alliance and 3 are
Respect).

The Mayor is responsible for all executive decisions and
provides strategic leadership.

Councillors or 'Members' help the Mayor run the council on
behalf of the community.

Every four years our 60 Councillors and Mayor are elected. The
next elections for Mayor of London and the London Assembly will
take place on May 1 2008.
