Settle Point Car Park Consultation

The council is consulting on proposals to close the public car park at Settle Point near Plaistow Station as part of the wider long term improvement plan for Plaistow.

Settle Point Car Park

The council currently provides off street parking at Settle Point Car Park for 30 car parking spaces including two dedicated spaces for disabled drivers. It is open from Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm. The car park can be accessed from London Road.

The London Road site was allocated for housing in the Council's Core Strategy in January 2012.  The Local Plan was shaped through consultation with residents. This new development would be a combination of residential, retail and leisure buildings, designed to improve the local area.  A new stepped access will connect Plaistow Station on Plaistow Road to the existing Settle Point block on London Road, effectively replacing the existing stepped link.

Consultation update

The consultation closed on Wednesday 22 January 2020 at 23.59 hours.

Further consultation has been completed by the Council following the Cabinet decision in December 2019 to agree to the closure of the Settle Point, London Road car park subject to compliance with all the necessary legal requirements (including in relation to consultation) for the purposes of disposal to Red Door Venture for residential development.

Having assessed the output of the consultation exercise, the Council has decided to proceed with the closure of the car park and the necessary Notices have been places in the press and on site.

The Settle Point Car Park closes on Monday 16 March with cars to be removed by 6pm on Sunday 15 March.
